The festive season
Merry Christmas to one and all. Just realized we havnt written anything for nearly a month. Guess in that time we have done no big travels, so just the usual stuff going on around here. A few nice dinners with friends, birthday parties to go to for Darcy, yoga workshops, and caught Ron Sexsmith performing at the local arts centre. Darcy and Steve were taken for a free flight up over Toronto the other weekend and I was given a free thai massage. No great plans for the holidays (steve and darcy get 2 weeks off and then its 2 weeks and we are heading for home)..the credit card is labouring and we are feeling a little worn out. The terms are damned long here for people used to holidays every 10 weeks! Steve has been teaching pretty much non stop since early Sept. Y'know teachers.. always whinge whinge..... Still looking forward to a few local based activities in the snow..bit of snowboarding, tubing, toboganning etc. Had a good 7 cm drop of snow but the unseasonable warm temps are back and its all gone. We managed to grab a Chrissy tree when the snow was about so it felt a bit more like a white Chrissy then. The next few weeks see us doing christmas, Darcy's birthday party and then our farewell which will take place at the local brewery. Our heads are starting to turn towards packing and getting ready for home and with Christmas all around we are feeling even more homesick..as someone said to me its harder when you can smell home. We cant wait to see the sun. We just endured the gloomiest fall in ontario for the last 29 years with only 96 hours of sunlight in November!!! Steve reckons even that was an overestimate. Vancouver island was even worse with only 48 hours. of sun in Nov! We both reckon they do it so tough over here weather wise and though we could never be accused of taking the beach and sun for granted in Oz we will love it even more on our return. More news to follow soon...
